Sound Study

DESCRIPTION:

Tech performed a sound study for the Paragon Outlets to determine compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy of the rooftop HVAC systems. Tech collected short term and long term sound measurements to represent existing daytime and nighttime sound levels at the closest residence to the structure. Through this, Tech was able to characterize the quieter existing sound levels in the residential areas and establish the ambient level for use with the MassDEP noise policy. Tech used the Cadna-A modeling software to calculate predicted sound levels, assuming simultaneous maximum loading of all HVAC equipment and loading docks activities. These parameters caused the study to be as conservative as possible. Tech calculated the future sound levels at 12 residences surrounding the project site and found the maximum sound levels to be less than the allowable 10-dBA increase and in compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy.
