SERVICE:
Sound Study
DESCRIPTION:
Tech performed an acoustic study for approval of a proposed wind turbine at the Worcester County Sheriff's Department in West Boylston, Massachusetts. The study showed that the proposed project would be in compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy at the nearest residence and residential property, and was performed in full compliance with the new MassCEC Acoustic Study Methodology (ASM) for Wind Turbine Projects. To document existing sound and wind conditions Tech engineers performed simultaneous long-term ambient sound and wind monitoring on the proposed project site. Per request of the client, Tech performed additional acoustic modeling to explore additional proposed locations for the turbine. The study included analysis of both indoor and outdoor sound levels for two buildings nearby buildings.
Key Points
- The Sheriff's Department needed an acoustic study of a proposed wind turbine near a prison to assess compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy.
- Tech performed long term noise and wind monitoring, and acoustic modeling to demonstrate that the estimated sound levels at the nearest residence and residential property line would be in compliance.
