Sounds Impacts of the Bangor Concert Venue

SERVICE:

Peer Review Acoustic Consulting

DESCRIPTION:

As a peer review consultant to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Tech performed an independent acoustic study of the rock concert noise on the surrounding community from the Bangor Concert Venue (BCV). The BCV is on the Penobscot River waterfront and the City of Bangor had filed for a permit from the Maine DEP under the Maine Site Location of Development Regulations, proposing to move an existing performance stage to a new location and expand the concert area. Existing sounds levels in Bangor and Brewer were measured and maximum sounds levels from rock concerts were predicted using an acoustic model. Tech recommended a sound limit at the Mix Position keyed to the 63-Hz Leq sound level, measured in 1-minute increments.
