Air Quality and Noise Analyses for BRA

DESCRIPTION:

For the proposed Hotel Indigo to be located in South Boston, air quality and noise analyses were performed to satisfy the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) requirements. The microscale analysis, performed by Tech Environmental, followed the latest Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and BRA guidance. Tech used the MOBILE6.2 emission factor model and the EPA CAL3QHC dispersion model to predict maximum carbon monoxide concentrations and completed the microscale analysis for two intersections surrounding the proposed Project area. Tech was also able to assess the worst case air quality impacts from the building's fuel combustion equipment at all nearby sensitive receptors. Using the AERMOD model in screening mode, the CO impacts and background CO concentrations were calculated and compared to National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for CO. For the noise impact assessment, Tech performed background nighttime noise monitoring and noise impact analysis for the roof top equipment and emergency generator. Tech concluded that the sound level impacts would be below City of Boston noise limits and MassDEP Noise Policy.
