Project Number:
3421Horizon Beverage Distribution Center Sound Study
SERVICE:
Noise Study
DESCRIPTION:
Horizon Beverage Company had proposed a distribution center on 45 Commerce Way in Norton, Massachusetts. The architectural firm in charge of the project, CA Architectural Design and Engineering, LLC, realized that there were potential noise concerns from mechanical rooftop equipment, the emergency generator, and truck loading and unloading operations. CA Architectural decided that a sound study should be performed to assess whether the proposed facility would comply with Massachusetts DEP's (MassDEP) noise policy. CA Architectural retained Tech Environmental, Inc. (Tech) to complete the sound study.
Tech conducted a thorough sound study. Tech established the existing background during the quietest hours of the proposed facility's operation, then evaluated sound impacts from the mechanical rooftop equipment, the emergency generator, and truck loading and unloading operations. All measurements were taken by an acoustic engineer using a Type 1 real-time sound level analyzer. Tech then conducted an acoustic modeling analysis using the Cadna-A 3-dimensional acoustic model, to evaluate sound impacts from the proposed facility. The results of the sound study revealed that the proposed distribution center will fully comply with the most stringent sound level limits set by the Massachusetts DEP's Noise Policy.
Key Points
- A proposed beverage distribution center needed a noise study done to confirm that the facilities would be in compliance with MassDEP's Noise Policy.
- Tech conducted a thorough sound study which confirmed that the proposed distribution center would be in full compliance with MassDEP Noise Policy.
