Sound Monitoring and Acoustic Modeling

DESCRIPTION:

Tech conducted a noise study of the proposed SYSCO warehouse to demonstrate it complies with the MassDEP Noise Policy.  A five-step analysis was needed to demonstrate a facility-not-yet-built complies with the Noise Policy.  Tech conducted baseline sound levels monitoring, obtained sound power levels for all sources regulated by the Policy, conducted acoustic modeling, made future predictions with the model, and proposed sound barrier walls, if required. 

The regulated sources for the SYSCO Lakeville warehouse include parked refrigeration trailers; shuttle tractors that operate on the site; tractors whose engines are left idling more than five minutes; and rooftop mechanical equipment, including refrigeration condensing units.  Tech worked with SYSCO to identify the most cost-effective noise mitigation strategy for the site and identified the necessary noise barrier walls which complied with the noise policy.
