SERVICE:

Indoor Health and Odor Effects Evaluation

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental completed a screening analysis to evaluate the potential health and odor effects from materials that would be used for the repair of the roof at MASCO's facility in Boston, MA. The purpose of this work was to estimate the potential emissions of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from the roof repair operations, dispersion as VOCs are carried by the wind to the rooftop air intakes, and the resulting pollutant concentration inside the building within the child care center and call center spaces.

Tech estimated VOC concentration inside the spaces and compared to air quality criteria for children and healthy workers, as appropriate, as well as to an odor threshold. Tech recommended several mitigation measures to ensure that the roof repairs will not cause adverse health impacts.
