DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental conducted a noise and vibration impact assessment of the Boston Sports Club (BSC) on the second floor of Sherwood Plaza on the Ulta Beauty Shop directly below on the first floor. The purpose of this study was to assess the sound and vibration impacts of the BSC weight lifting and treadmill activities, and to present potential mitigation measures.

Tech measured both sound and vibration levels directly below the weights and treadmills at four locations in the beauty shop. Tech recommended two types of mitigation to avoid disruption of activities in the Beauty Salon. First, thicker rubber mats on the floor of the weight lifting area were recommended; and second, in the areas below the treadmills, it was advised that the ceiling be fitted with new hangers to reduce low and high frequency vibration.
