Mesoscale and Greenhouse Gas Analysis

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental was retained by Vanasse & Associates, Inc. to conduct mesoscale air quality and greenhouse gas emissions analyses for the proposed BJ's Wholesale Club in Northborough, MA. The Project would consist of a wholesale club and fueling facility, as well as retail and restaurant space. Tech performed a mesoscale air quality analysis using an EPA-approved model. The resulting increase in emissions from the Project would be reduced by implementing a number of transportation demand management (TDM) strategies and roadway/traffic signal improvements in the Project design.

Tech quantified stationary and mobile source carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions using the Tech Environmental Energy Model and a U.S. EPA-approved mobile source model. The final design, designated as the Full Mitigation Alternative, would reduce the Project's direct and indirect stationary source energy-related emissions of CO2 by approximately 23.8% and 15.5%, respectively.
