Whistlestop Mall IAQ Assessment

SERVICE:

Indoor Air Quality Assessment

DESCRIPTION:

At the end of a work day, two employees at the Whistlestop Mall were taken to a local hospital emergency room reporting symptoms of nausea, dizziness, and vertigo. The owner of the mall retained Tech Environmental to perform indoor air quality testing and to investigate a possible environmental source in the building that could have caused the event.

Tech visited the site in order to tour offices in the building, conduct employee interviews, and perform air monitoring in various areas. Air monitoring results were found to be within applicable guideline and regulatory levels for the 24-hour period of the survey. Tours of the office and adjacent businesses indicated normal conditions, and no potential sources that would significantly alter the air quality in the office were identified. Tech made recommendations to eliminate the potential for additional IAQ events, such as regular maintenance of HVAC system, installation of CO monitors and the removal of identified building materials as soon as possible.
