Carbon System Assessment

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental was retained by the Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District to conduct a sampling program of their odor control carbon system. Tech developed and implemented a testing protocol for the project. Upon completion of the sampling program and analysis of the data, Tech developed recommendations to improve the carbon system.

Tech conducted both grab and continuous data sampling for VOC and reduced sulfur to determine the potential carbon-media consumption. Tech determined that odorous compounds were catalytically converted to another odorant that was causing odors prior to the complete consumption of the carbon. The reduced sulfur data were examined along with the laboratory results, and used to make recommendations regarding media for the system including a detailed consideration of regenerative carbon options.
