Noise Analysis for Wind Energy Project Substation

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental, Inc. provided acoustic consulting services to Upstate NY Power Corporation in their installation of a 345-kV substation in Mexico, New York to service the power from the proposed Galloo Island Hounsfield Wind Farm at the eastern end of Lake Ontario.

Tech Environmental performed baseline ambient sound level monitoring in nearby residential areas. Manufacturer's sound power data for the substation equipment were used to calculate future sound levels with a sophisticated 3-D acoustic model to demonstrate compliance with the New York State DEC Noise Guidelines.
