Bayside Expo Center Redevelopment

SERVICE:

Redevelopment Air Quality Analyses

DESCRIPTION:

Corcoran Jennison Companies was proposing to redevelop property on Columbia Point in Dorchester, Massachusetts that included the Bayside Exposition Center, offices, and a Doubletree Hotel.  The proposed redevelop consisted of converting the existing site into a mixed-use development that would transform the large exhibition center, hotel, and office area into an attractive mixed-use community with increased open space and transit oriented features.

Tech Environmental completed a mesoscale air quality and greenhouse gas (GHG) analyses for the proposed project to satisfy the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) air quality requirements for the project, for an Expanded Environmental Notification Form (ENF)/Project Notification Form (PNF).

Key Points

  • The possibility of a new mixed-use waterfront neighbor required significant air quality considerations.
  • Tech completed an air quality assessment and GHG study, to demonstrate that the added traffic, stores, and residents, would not adversely effect the local air quality.
