Train Traffic Residential Noise Impact Study

DESCRIPTION:

A new residential development was proposed for a site off of St. Georges Avenue in Woodbridge, New Jersey near the Conrail Port Reading Branch railroad tracks.  The developers were concerned that potential noise from train traffic would adversely effect potential future residents.

Tech Environmental used its database of noise factors and train schedules to examine the acoustic impacts of train traffic within the proposed residential dwellings.  The study determined that the resulting sound levels would comply with Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines with no additional mitigation beyond standard construction practices and residents would not be exposed to loud excessive noise events.
