Boiler Sound Level Monitoring

DESCRIPTION:

A series of noise complaints from the residents of the Balmoral Condominiums in Andover, Massachusetts prompted the real estate management team to address the concern.  Noise was being generated from a  boiler inlet air ducts located on a courtyard roof and adjacent to a ballroom and residents windows.

Sound level monitoring conducted by Tech Environmental demonstrated that the sound escaping the boiler inlet louvers exceeded the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Noise Policy, and that noise attenuation was required.  Tech developed a cost effective noise mitigation approach.  The management team implemented the  recommendations and sound levels were substantially reduced, addressing the residents concerns.
