Pennsylvania Wind Project

SERVICE:

Sound Studies for Berlin, PA Wind Farm

DESCRIPTION:

American Municipal Power - Ohio (AMPO) proposes to construct 3 Vestas V80 1.8MW wind turbine units for the purpose of generating up to 5.4 megawatts of electricity in the Town of Berlin in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Tech Environmental prepared an acoustic study to assess the potential noise impact from this wind energy project on sensitive receptors.

Existing sound levels were measured on the site and in nearby residential areas for a five-day period. Acoustic modeling was done for design wind operating conditions of the 1.8-MW wind turbines using a sophisticated 3-D acoustic model. The modeling results show compliance with EPA Noise Guidelines.
