Moretown School Board

SERVICE:

Analysis of Truck Air Quality Impacts

DESCRIPTION:

The Moretown School Board, in Moretown, Vermont, had concerns regarding the potential air quality impacts of large quarry-related truck traffic at a school located near a proposed quarry truck route through the Town. Tech recommended modeling the air quality impacts of the future trucks that would pass by the school to demonstrate compliance with air quality standards.

Tech prepared an air quality analysis of the particulate matter (PM) impacts from trucks and cars passing by a school using the U.S. EPA MOBILE6.2 emissions model, U.S. EPA's AP-42 Document, and the U.S. EPA Industrial Source Complex (ISCST3) dispersion model. The predicted maximum levels were safely in compliance, and showed that the quarry trucks would have an insignificant impact on air quality at the school.
