Cottage Street Landfill

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental provided air permitting services and technical assistance to the Cottage Street Landfill in Springfield, MA. Tech developed a phased permitting approach. Landfill gas sampling was performed by TE technicians to determine hydrogen sulfide loadings for the biofilter design. Tech provided design assistance with an in-ground biofilter and Sulfatreat, drafting design drawings and equipment specifications, and tailored the biofilter permit application to reflect the final biofilter design.

Tech Environmental also performed extensive research into hydrogen sulfide limits and developed a staged fenceline hydrogen sulfide monitoring program that began with simple monitoring and escalated as actual odor conditions warranted.

This system design was the first landfill Sulftreat hydrogen sulfide pretreatment system installed in Massachusetts.
