Mesoscale Analysis

DESCRIPTION:

A mesoscale air quality modeling analysis was performed for the proposed Trade Center Park in Woburn, Massachusetts. This project is located at the site of the former Northeast Trade Center (NTC) and consists of approximately 459,400 square feet (sf) of new office space on a 19.5 acre parcel located at 100 Sylvan Road. Total size of the project was projected to be approximately 637,400 sf including the 178,000 sf of the NTC (now office space). The project was expected to generate 4,436 vehicle trips per weekday (vpd) which is a net increase of 252 vpd over the existing condition with the NTC. On-site parking for 1,652 vehicles was proposed, resulting in a net increase of 252 spaces over existing conditions. Based on daily trip generation, this project required a mesoscale air quality analysis to assess the total VOC emissions associated with all project-related vehicle trips.

The proposed mesoscale study area included seven roadway segments along Route 38 (Main Street) and Sylvan Road in Woburn to support the successfully completed Environomental Impact Review for the project.
